These gentlemen wrote a book last fall which profiles the day to day work of sommeliers throughout the country, and the hard work they must endure to develop their palate and wine knowledge. I’m definitely a fan of books that delve into how people achieve their goals and explain in detail about their career path.
At a recent tasting at Wine Discount Center, I had the pleasure to shoot a short video profiling their book and learning about their wine preferences (they both have much more of an Old World palate!)
I really wanted to push Rajat a little more on the meaning of terroir; how to detect when a wine is or is not a product of a specific place. Please watch the video yourself, and post comments about what I -should- have asked him. I am sure you can think of much better questions than I did!
